Furry Friends Animal Shelter
Monetary Donation | Article by: Cindy Cherry
The Furry Friends Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to providing shelter and love to abandoned, lost or rescued animals in the Barrie community. They provide care to 500+ cats and kittens each year and do not euthanize healthy animals for any reason.
They’re a registered charity (#882610124), funded by donors such as Don Cherry’s Pet Rescue Foundation.
They have been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming felines for over 20 years. These 3 R’s are accomplished by a dedicated group of volunteers practising:
Rescue: They take in surrenders, strays and hoarded cats, and work with other local animal rescue organizations and people in the community to trap/rescue cats in need.
Rehabilitation: At the shelter and in foster homes they provide proper nutrition, essential vaccines, microchips and ensure that all cats and kittens are spayed/neutered. When necessary, they arrange emergency surgeries and medical treatments. There’re dedicated to socializing and building trust with fearful cats, and offer lots of TLC, no matter what.
Rehoming: As soon as these furry friends are adoption-ready, they work with adoption partners from other shelters and their much value foster volunteers – to match them with loving families in the community. Plus, of course, they work hard to reunite lost cats with their pet parents.
Their website is very well organized. It has a place on their site where you can register lost and found cats: http://furryfriendsbarrie.com/Lost_And_Found
Plus, as they say, “find your BFF(best furry friend) at http://furryfriendsbarrie.com/Find_Your_BFF
